Welcome to No Bad Movies.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been an entertainment connoisseur. When I was young, books and movies were my life. I would carry stacks of them home from the library that was six blocks away, read them in one night, and bring them back for more the next day. I would play VHS tapes, like “Toy Story,” on a loop until I had memorized every line of dialogue. Needlessly to say, my affinity for cinema only grew.

A decade ago, I decided it was time to start recording my reactions and sharing them with those who might be interested. At the time, I was busy earning a Bachelors Degree in Film Studies at Minnesota State University-Moorhead. I was also working at a video store in Fargo, North Dakota and the constant inquiries into whether certain films were enjoyable or not always fascinated me. No Bad Movies started as my attempt to verbalize my likes and dislikes when it came to any given film.

With my education, I have an above average knowledge of what goes into making movies. Plus, I watch a ton of them. When others go out on a Friday night, I am at home watching old movies on Netflix or going to the theater to see the newest ones. Now, as a family man, I even get to share my cinematic love with my wife and two girls.

I now live in Los Angeles and have a full-time job in the entertainment industry. Reviewing is my side gig, and I do as many as I can fit into my schedule. Around the end of the year, I follow the awards season and challenge myself to watch all the films nominated by the Academy as well as the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

If you are a fellow moviegoer or entertainment connoisseur, I would love to have you follow along. With every post, I am trying to grow as a writer. I look forward to any opinions or feedback you may have.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Sincerely,

Christopher Haskell

  1. Hi Christopher:

Is there such a thing as a family-friendly Christmas horror movie? Yes, and it’s a Tubi Original film.

The film is titled “Family Ornaments.” I would be honored for you to watch it, let alone review it. You can view the trailer here: https://finndependent.com/ or simply go to Tubi and search for the title in new releases. Happy Thanksgiving.

    Title: Family Ornaments
Synopsis: When their Christmas ornaments come to life, a fractured family must overcome their differences to survive Christmas.
