Yet another film that simply screams Academy Awards. The pieces are all there. Period pieces are normally revered by the Academy and depicting Sigmund Freud, a prominent figure, who has had very little exposure on the big screen helps this film out immensely. Viggo Mortensen is a seasoned actor, having been nominated for an Academy Award before (for “Eastern Promises”, yet another David Cronenberg film). Michael Fassbender is on my list of deserved few in line to become the next big thing and Keira Knightley fits these parts like few others. Lastly, David Cronenberg is an established director, who may just be ready for his first Academy Award. Overall, and I may be the only one but, I see big things in-store for this film at this year’s Academy Awards.
