TOTAL RECALL / I have yet to see the original to really know what I am in for, but the trailer for this film makes it look like the sleeper hit of the summer. Whereas The Avengers campaign has been pumping for years now, Total Recall made its presence known only a few days ago. But already many are saying this could be the action film to finally launch Colin Farrell. You could argue that S.W.A.T. or Phone Booth marginally launched him, but he’s never really taken off like many critics believed he would. With Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, and Bryan Cranston backing him up, there’s no legitimate reason that this film shouldn’t do well, especially with Underworld veteran Len Wiseman directing. The visuals look amazing, the action looks intense, and the camerawork has already drawn me in, especially with the ever fluid camera pan throughout the shoot ’em sequence. In yet another summer of blockbusters, it will be interesting to see if this non-sequel, remake can make its mark.
