THE GREAT GATSBY / From director Baz Luhrman (“Romeo + Juliet”, “Moulin Rouge”, “Australia”) comes a take on an older story, The Great Gatsby. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, as well as Tobey MacGuire, you can expect this film to make some waves come Oscar season. If you’ve seen Luhrman’s previous works, you already know his kitsch for style and poise, so seeing the distinct style presented in this trailer brings me back to his earlier career. We’ve seen what he can do with Shakespeare, now it will be interesting to see what he can do with a great American novel from 1925 that the 1974 version, written by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow couldn’t do.
