Tuesday Releases: Battleship & The Lucky One

If you haven’t had enough of “Battleship” yet, now you can add it to your own personal collection. When aliens attack a naval operation, it’s up to Taylor Kitsch and his crew to prove they have what it takes to save the Earth, while Liam Neeson watches from the outside, and Brooklyn Decker runs through the hills with a legless man. Don’t forget about Rihanna making a stand as well. Currently at an 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s probably alright if you miss this Peter Berg directed film.

Nicholas Sparks’ release, “The Lucky One” finds itself on DVD this week as well, with Zac Efron taking a stab at the hunky heart-throb while practically unknown Taylor Schilling fits in nicely to the beautiful love interest character, joining Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried in the “hot” seat. For some reason lower than “Battleship”, “The Lucky One is at a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes and I gave the film 3 out of 5 stars.

“Life Happens” starring “Breaking Bad” & “Apartment 23” actress Krysten Ritter releases this week, as well as “The Moth Diaries”, which I may check out solely for actress Sarah Gadon, of “A Dangerous Method” and “Cosmopolis”. Also, “Monsieur Lazhar” finally gets a release, one of the five foreign films nominated for an Academy Award this past year.

A huge week for television releases, I bought “Sons of Anarchy – Season Four” to catch up for the fifth season starting soon. Also “Boardwalk Empire – Season Two” was released, proving I am way too behind on television right now, as I still need to see “Season One”. To solidify that “The Walking Dead – Season Two” was released to which I have not seen this season either. “Once Upon A Time – Season One” and “Homeland – Season One” both come out to rave reviews, along with the not-so-raved-about “Two and a Half Men – Season Nine” starring Ashton Kutcher.

To round out the smaller releases, “Area 407”, “Citizen Gangster”, “Hide Away”, and “Penumbra” all get releases this week.
