Although I have not yet seen this film, I am fairly certain it will not gain enough traction by awards season. Small films like this should, however, not be taken for granted, since even the smallest performances or screenplays can get enough rallied support to push them through for nominations. Look at Demian Bichir in “A Better Life”, nominated for Best Actor last year. No one saw that coming but it happened. Once I see “Not Fade Away”, I’ll be more equipped to judge its merit.
