HEAD OVER HEELS
Reminiscent of Pixar’s “Up”, “Head Over Heels” delivers a short animated film about an aging couple forced to live upside from one another. The love is dwindling in their relationship as they hurdle through space, but it takes some innovative thinking and a lot of heart to bring these two together.
There were really too many parallels between this short and Pixar’s feature to feel any sort of originality. Yes, “Head Over Heels” was clay-mation, setting it to a different style than the computer animated “Up” but it’s tough to see a concept that was previously produced so much better be replayed in this short.
Basically a silent film apart from music, you do feel bits and pieces of emotions for the characters in the film, but I really can’t help but feel this was too basic and too straight forward to be the Best Animated Short film of the year, especially with knock-outs like “Paperman” and “Adam and Dog”.
