G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA
BY CHRISTOPHER HASKELL
MARCH 29, 2013

Channing Tatum takes his first giant leap into action films with “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.” The film is helped immensely by its well-known cast. Marlon Wayans re-emerges into something relevant and helpful to his career, Sienna Miller and Rachel Nichols are both stunning, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the surprise star of the show, displaying a side of himself unseen in any of his previous roles.
Most of the film is entirely action-based, with a memorable race down the streets of Paris with enhancer suits. Still, the plot does include some intriguing back story, making the rivalry between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow one of the most compelling portions of the film. Bringing these action figures to life is a feat in and of itself, but making them do all the things you imagined them doing as you played with them as a kid and producing an entertaining blockbuster in the process is something to be applauded.
