CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER // Just in time for the “Thor: The Dark World” release date in just a few weeks, Marvel reveals their next sequel’s trailer, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. With Captain America’s villain resting in his “deceased” best friend Bucky (Sebastian Stan), this new action film promises to be so much more, hinting at a political thriller on top of superhero flick. Chris Evans reprises his role as Steve Rogers in this follow-up film where Captain America is now in present day, as his origin story took place during World War II. With more of the S.H.I.E.L.D. story as well, bringing along Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), this film also introduces director Alexander Pierce played by the brilliant Robert Redford, who promises to be more than meets the eye. Hinting at a possible love story between Widow and Rogers, it will be interesting to see how his connection with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is resolved, having left her behind in the past. In yet another leg of the Marvel Phase Two (“Thor: The Dark World” and “Iron Man 3” being the first two), this will also reveal Captain America’s post-Avengers/New York incident. Tony Stark had Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome in “Iron Man 3” and Thor looks to be hunkering down, bringing love interest Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) to Asgard in “Thor: The Dark World”, but what will Rogers be faced with? Being the last main cast film before the next installment of the ensemble “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” (“Guardians Of The Galaxy” will be a new assemblage), what major revelations will be revealed. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out, unfortunately.
