It’s not every year you have a Peter Berg film in the For Your Consideration bracket for the Academy Award, but this year, “Lone Survivor” barely makes the cut, coming out in December. This brute military film about four men facing off against an unexpected army looks well done but to the extent of being nominated for anything. If we were going to put this film on the charts for anything, it would have to be Best Sound Mixing or Best Sound Editing, the categories which military films find themselves in almost every year. Do not expect to see Peter Berg or Mark Wahlberg accepting any nominations for this film and if they do, I’ll hang up the old Oscar blog and find something outdoors to bide my time with.
