FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: SEVEN FILMS FOR MAKEUP & HAIRSTYLING

Seven films now stand for Best Makeup & Hairstyling, but only three will get nominations in this category. Sadly, “The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug” doesn’t make the cut. The two locks that I can see are “The Great Gatsby” which could even go on to take this award, and of course, “American Hustle” which brings out the style of the ’70s and ’80s in the trailer alone. The rest is a mixed bag of fantasy, drama, and comedy. “Dallas Buyers Club” would be a safe bet, seeing as it will get a lot of attention. With somewhat poor reviews, I’m not seeing “Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters” or “The Lone Ranger” getting noticed, apart from the amazing practical makeup used for the troll in “Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters”. If “Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa” gets nominated, I will be wholly surprised, and then get ready for a world where we’re calling it the Academy Award nominated “Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa”.
