EDDIE THE EAGLE || Despite Hugh Jackman being a strong actor that could easily carry a movie these days, “Eddie The Eagle” looks a little too strange for its own good. Inspired by the true story of an underdog British ski-jumper, Taron Egerton of “Kingsman: The Secret Service” plays Michael “Eddie” Edwards, who despite failing at most things in life, turns to wanting to represent his country at the Olympics. With the help of a cynical trainer in Jackman, he pursues the unrealistic dream. Egerton was great in “Kingsman” but looks to fall off completely in this.	PASS
	GODS OF EGYPT || Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau pitted against each other as gods. There was a time a few years ago when films like “Clash of the Titans” were coming back and the action-adventure films with CGI were at least somewhat tolerable. Now, they fall completely into drivel with “Gods Of Egypt,” a film containing nothing original, with Gerard Butler seemingly stepping back into his days of “300,” except this time as the villain. Brenton Thwaites, who has been on a slight rise the past few years, also stars, as apparently does Chadwick Boseman, who’s listed in the the credits but I did not see him in the trailer.	PASS

	BACKTRACK || Not even Academy Award winner Adrien Brody or Sam Neill can save this psychological thriller titled “Backtrack.” Brody plays a therapist whose patients die within a few days of each other yet he still sees them. There’s also a little girl that he sees, who is obviously not among the living in which I believe he’s dealing with grief towards. Otherwise, as for what the rest of the film is about, your guess is as good as mine.	PASS
	BECOMING MIKE NICHOLS || Available on HBO Go, “Becoming Mike Nichols” is a documentary exploring the mind and work of director Mike Nichols. You know him from his work on “The Graduate” and “Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf” and the documentary includes interviews with him about his process and what it was like to work with certain actors like Dustin Hoffman.	PASS
	CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: SWORD OF DESTINY || The original “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was an Academy Award winning and even Best Picture nominated feature. So it’s unfortunate that the sequel is a straight to Netflix release with a rather bland story and lackluster production quality. Kudos to Netflix for pushing along this sequel and from the looks of it, it did not belong in theaters and will likely be instantly forgotten.	PASS
	JACK OF THE RED HEARTS || As much as I enjoy actress AnnaSophia Robb’s work, she can not quite elevate this after school special of a drama. First of, I didn’t even recognize her in the beginning of the trailer, playing an unruly teen with too much makeup. When she needs to hide out from her parole officer, she lies to get a job as a trained caregiver although she has absolutely no training. But her compassion for the young special needs girl gives her all the power she needs to get through. “Jack Of The Red Hearts” also stars Famke Janssen.	PASS
	KING GEORGES || “King Georges” is a documentary about the French chef Georges Perrier, a pioneer in the gourmet good industry for 40 years until his Philadelphia restaurant closes. The film takes a look behind the scenes as he and his help prepare food and try to keep their restaurant afloat, interviewing the staff as well as showing Perrier at work. Unfortunately, this feels like every other foodie documentary of this sort.	PASS
	THE LAST MAN ON THE MOON || Only twelve astronauts in the history of the world have walked on the moon. Astronaut Eugene Cernan was one of them and now in the documentary, “The Last Man On The Moon,” he reflects on what it was like forty years ago, as does his family, as they discuss how hard it was to watch him go.	PASS
	ONLY YESTERDAY || Originally unreleased in the United States, Studio Ghibli’s 1991 animated release “Only Yesterday,” finally gets an American theatrical debut. The film explores having regrets about growing up, as the film’s protagonist takes a trip on a train for vacation and has flashbacks to her younger self. In my opinion, Studio Ghibli films are must-sees, so this will definitely get added to the list.	STREAM
	SNOWTIME! || Yet another independent animated film that falls short of what is being released by the likes of Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks, “Snowtime” is about a town that lives for building snow forts and fighting over them. But as the different teams begin fraternizing, the lines of battle become not so clear. With zero laughs and a questionable animation, the only thing this film really has to tout is its soundtrack including songs from Simple Plan and Celine Dion.	PASS
	TRICKED || Paul Verhoeven made films like the original “RoboCop” and “Total Recall” while also making dramatic thrillers like “Basic Instinct” and “Showgirls.” Now, he continues that sexual thriller streak with “Tricked,” a very low budget wonder about a businessman dealing with affairs, blackmail, and plenty of lies. As much as I would probably enjoy this for the story and the dark nature, the production value is so underdone, it’s hard to get past that.	PASS
	TRIPLE 9 || With director John Hillcoat (“The Road” and “Lawless” at the helm of an action-thriller including an ensemble cast of Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet, there will be no missing this. Affleck plays a new recruit on the force, teamed with Mackie. But when a bank robbery goes down and it seems like the police are involved, all bets are off as to who’s getting out alive.	RENT
	WHO’S DRIVING DOUG || Actor RJ Mitte has mild cerebral palsy, so if you’re wondering if he’s being typecast following his role in “Breaking Bad” and now “Who’s Driving Doug,” the answer is he’s actually a celebrity ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy, which means I’m sure he’s happy to represent this in films. In this film, he wants to go to Las Vegas, despite his overprotective mother’s wishes. So he hires a random guy to drive him to Vegas and the drama ensues. Not sure why the trailer is touting songs from Death Cab For Cutie, but perhaps they spent enough money on the soundtrack to give it some credit.	PASS
