Well that happened… Ron Howard’s Inferno fell $10 million shy of expectations and landed in number 2 while Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween held tight and finished at number 1 for the second weekend in a row, now well over double its production budget. But with Marvel’s Doctor Strange and Dreamworks’ Trolls opening next weekend, that two weekend hold is all it will see.
All drops were minor this weekend, as very few new titles appeared on the list. Inferno and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were the only two new releases on the list and for that, most things only fell one or two points. Kevin Hart: What Now?, I’m Not Ashamed, and Desierto all shared the same four point drop. Along with the number 1 spot hold by Madea, The Accountant and Storks were able to hold onto their positions. Small titles Moonlight and A Man Called Ove saw increases of 3 and 5 points respectively while Chan-Wook Park’s The Handmaiden increased by 18 points to find its way onto the list this weekend as well. Falling off completely were Max Steel, Masterminds, and Priceless.
