WONDER WOMAN || DC’s first female-centric solo superhero film get its first origin trailer, introducing Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman (played by the gorgeous Gal Gadot) through her training with warriors (Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright) to meeting the stranded U.S. Air Force captain Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine), who’s information about WWI sends her on a mission to end the war early. The action in the trailer looks phenomenal but the blatant attempt to infuse comedy into the film, in the same vein as Marvel, feels shoehorned and out of character. Not that DC should continue the extremely dark tone that it’s been using thus far, but there has to be some middle ground and some way for DC to differentiate itself from Marvel, which is also headed too far down the campy, comedy road these days. How DC continues to get things so very wrong is beyond me. One has to wonder when we will see a Justice League trailer, as the film comes out November of this year, and if Wonder Woman will tie itself to that or even Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
