COCO || Pixar has two films coming out this year, with Cars 3 coming out this summer and the original Coco in November. With the first teaser out this week, Coco not only seems to celebrate music in general, with the young boy idolizing an acting musician on television, but it also delves into Mexican heritage and the ideas behind Día de Muertos (the Day of the Dead). In the teaser, Miguel Riveras, a 12-year old aspiring musician, watches black-and-white television. It looks like there might be a missing daddy, with a family picture in which his face is missing. In a tomb, upon playing his guitar, orange leaves glow eventually sending him to the other side, where the dead roam in a vast world of afterlife. Although this feels fairly close to The Book Of Life, the fact that it follows a young boy on a musical journey at least mildly sets it apart. Currently, Gael García Bernal and Benjamin Bratt are tied as voice actors to the film.
