TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT || With plenty of young girls going to see the live action rendition of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the theatre this weekend, why not release a female-centric trailer for a film you wouldn’t expect them to go to this summer: Transformers: The Last Knight. I, for one, am glad to see Bay stepping out of his (somewhat) comfort zone and introducing the young female character with grit at the heart of his latest Transformers movie. Yes, Mark Wahlberg returns and has some humorous exchanges with a Dinobot at the end of the preview, but overall, this post-apocalyptic take on the series is something new and it looks like Bay might be pulling out all the stops, not only with Optimus Prime made to fight the Autobots and Megatron once again leading the Decepticons, but also with names being thrown around like SteelBane (transforms into a Beast), Infernocons, and Quintessa’s Guardians. There’s a glimpse of Josh Duhamel as William Lennox in the montage at the end and missing completely it seems is Anthony Hopkins, who had a huge presence in the first trailer. But the majority of this is Isabela Moner as Izabella/Izzy, talking to the camera about what it is to be a woman and the relationship between Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager and Izzy in this robot battleground apocalypse.
