KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE || Taron Egerton and Mark Strong return. Colin Firth’s Harry Hart isn’t actually dead. Julianna Moore, Halle Berry (where has she been?), Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges all join the cast America-side because the Kingsman headquarters has been destroyed. Enter the Statesman. Also, Sir Elton John is slated to appear.
Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” scores the trailer, which is filled with over-the-top action (a swan dive over a car explosion), lingerie-clad women, and fight sequences galore, one involving a henchman with a mechanical arm (replacing the hench-woman of Gazelle in the original who had sharpened prosthetic legs). There’s a huge skiing/snow mountain set piece and lots of guns and whips being used in the fights. Otherwise, this is mostly a tease, with only a few words said by Harry reminding why he picked Eggsy in the first place and then the pivotal end dialogue of Mark Strong’s Merlin sitting next to Eggsy saying “my God, Harry…” as Harry is shown with a patch over his eye, shaving in a padded cell.
The first film, Kingsman: The Secret Service was also directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass and X-Men: First Class) and made $414 million domestically.
