TULIP FEVER || Puzzling is the fact that The Weinstein Company (who always seems to have a dog in the Oscars race) have a period piece directed by Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl & Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom) and starring not one, not two, but three Academy Award winners amongst an absolutely stacked ensemble cast, and yet they are quietly releasing trailers and allowing for absolutely zero buzz to be built up around this film. Sadly, that’s usually the sign of a not so great film. But I have a feeling I will enjoy it, as it is reminiscent of 2013 sleeper film In Secret, which starred Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Felton, Oscar Isaac, and Jessica Lange. Much like the premise of that film, a woman is married to a man in the 17th century and when she meets her “true love,” they must indulge in it in secret. But it looks far from secret, as far as this trailer is concerned, with everyone offering the woman a warning, even her husband.

Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) plays a young woman married to a wealthy and much older man, played by Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds & Django Unchained). When a painter, played by Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-man 2), he and the young woman fall in love and plan a tulip business in order to run away together. Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Tom Hollander (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise), Holliday Grainger (Great Expectations), and Academy Award winner Judi Dench (Shakespeare In Love) all co-star.
