BABY DRIVER || Believe it or not, Baby Driver still has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Granted there are only 23 reviews in, but the new trailer for the film is boasting this as one of its review cards. Some of the other reviews include: “Beyond. F*<&!#%@. Awesome.” (David Fear, Rolling Stone), “the coolest damn movie you’ve ever seen” (Meredith Boarders, Birth. Death. Movies.), and “the most stylish film of the year” (Dan Casey, Nerdist). With Edgar Wright in the director’s chair, none of these reviews are that surprising consider he’s one of the most out-of-the-box directors of our generation. The humor is definitely there, especially with how the trailer is cut, cutting off cursing with car hits and playing the “tequila” song throughout, with one of the characters singing it on more than one occasion. Not only that, but with an ensemble cast of Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Foxx, Lily James, and Ansel Elgort, I can only imagine how awesome this film actually is. Not having been a huge fan of Elgort in the past, it looks like Wright gives him the exact character he needed to play to be enjoyable on-screen. With a few new posters out as well, my anticipation for this film is getting even bigger to the point where I feel like if it matches my expectations it will be my favorite film of the year.
