AMERICAN MADE || Tom Cruise isn’t wasting any time getting to his next film, playing Barry Seal, “a TWA pilot who is recruited by the CIA to help counter the emerging communist threat in Central America.” As he starts hauling money and drugs from one stop to the next, the tagline is actually said by one of the characters, “it’s not a felony if you’re doing it for the good guys.” Seal starts living the good life, but anytime you are dealing with wild card elements like the Medellin cartel, you are bound to hit some rough patches. The best part of this trailer is the opening where Cruise’s character lands a plane in a residential area, his drugs spill out everywhere, including all over him, and he pays some kids for the damage and for their bikes as he makes a break for it. It’s nice to see Sarah Wright (The House Bunny) getting a higher profile supporting role while Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens & About Time) plays Seal’s employer. Doug Liman, director of The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Edge Of Tomorrow, and most recently The Wall, takes the helm with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer among others producing.
