ADAM WEST

Cause of Death: Leukemia
Despite his Batman character being far before my time, having played the caped crusader back in the ’60s, I did have an action figure from the series growing up, yet never placed it as Adam West until much much later. Having never actually sat down to watch an episode of the series, I was exposed to it in other ways. One of the main music venues I used to frequent would play old episodes of Batman on the video monitors as we waited for the bands to come out, usually playing them with current music tracking them instead of the dialogue. Looking through West’s body of work, my main exposure to him has been through voice work. He did voices for Rugrats, The Simpsons, and Family Guy and is voice is as distinguishable to me as almost any major voice actors. His work as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy is as iconic to me as his Batman role is to those of the ’60s generation. He would play and voice Batman / Bruce Wayne through most of career following that successful run and hit many other superhero shows, both live action and animated, through most of his career. Being an avid listen of the Kevin & Bean Show on the radio station KROQ, I would also hear about Adam West through one of the radio personalities, Ralph Garmin, who was a superfan and also friend of West’s. Garmin was a huge proponent in getting Adam West a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
