GOD OF WAR|| Scheduled to release in early 2018, the eighth installment in the God Of War series comes to the Playstation 4, exclusively. This time, Kratos, the main character throughout the franchise is with his son Atreus and must learn to control the rage that has powered him through seven other titles of fighting gods. The gameplay has apparently been built from the ground up from the previous titles. It will being single-player only and takes a new role playing approach involving crafting resources and a new take on the “Rage” ability of the previous installments. Kratos lost his double-chained blades that he’s used throughout the franchise, at the end of God Of War III, to which this title follows, so he will now wield a magic battle axe that you can see extensively in the trailer above. You will also be able to play as Atreus at times, who wields a bow-and-arrow. The game is open but not open-world and though it will have quick time events, they will not be the same as in previous titles. The game will not feature any morality system or branching story; all players will have the same story experience.

The story places the two protagonists in the world of the Norse gods. “A savage land inhabited by many ferocious monsters and warriors. In order to teach his son how to survive in such a world, Kratos must master the rage that has driven him for many years and embrace his newfound role as a father and mentor.” This is considered the 2nd era of Norse Mythology, as the 1st era was all about Greek mythology. This is the first installment that will be released for the PlayStation 4.
