FLATLINERS || The 1990 original, directed by Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever), starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon, with the premise that a group of medical students that conduct near-death-experiences to see if there’s an afterlife and come back haunted by what they’ve seen. The updated version, stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemons, as well as the return of Kiefer Sutherland, who was in the original 27 years ago. The medical students are doing the same thing and once again they are being haunted by it.
The director, Niels Arden Oplev, is known for his work on the original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film as well as the feature Dead Man Down, the pilot episodes of Under The Dome and Mr. Robot. Michael Douglas, who was a producer on the original, is also a producer on this version as well.
