GEORGE A. ROMERO
February 4, 1940 – July 16, 2017 (age 77)
Cause of Death: Lung cancer

Known as the father of the zombie movie, George A. Romero started his career with the horror zombie film Night Of The Living Dead, widely considered the birth place of the modern day zombie. He would form most of his career out of this genre, with his other films including Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Land Of The Dead, Diary Of The Dead, and Survival Of The Dead. He also directed Season Of The Witch, The Crazies, Creepshow, and Monkey Shines. On most of his films he would also write and he would also always cameo in the film, acting on more than one occasion, even in The Silence Of The Lambs, to which director John Avildsen passed away almost exactly a month ago. Although he has passed away, with shows like The Walking Dead, I feel like his memory will always be alive or alive-again.
