HARRY DEAN STANTON
July 14, 1926 – September 15, 2017 (age 91)
Cause of Death: Natural Causes
Stanton was an actor that crossed genres. Horror, westerns, comedy, and drama, the man filled any shoes he needed to. The bigger movies he first appeared in were titles like “How The West Was Won” (1962), “In The Heat Of The Night” (1967), and “Cool Hand Luke” (1967) but the first films I would recognize him from would be “The Godfather Part II” (1974) and “Alien” (1979). Stanton is the second actor from “Alien” that we lost this year, with John Hurt passing away in January. He also worked alongside Bill Paxton, who also passed away this year, on the television series “Big Love.” Stanton worked with many great directors, including David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, and Ridley Scott. He would show up in two different adaptations of Stephen King novels, with his roles in “Christine” and “The Green Mile.” His final role would be on Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” earlier this year, reprising his role of Carl Rodd.
