GRINGO || With a cast like Joel Edgerton, David Oyelowo, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, and Sharlto Copley, you could sell me on just about any dark comedy, even “Gringo.” The film sends Oyelowo to Mexico on a mission for a pharmaceutical company that finds him kidnapped and put through some humorous, fish-out-of-water scenarios.
THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT || Not that anyone needed or asked for a sequel to the amazing horror film “The Strangers,” which is one of the best home invasion films of all time. But here we are and “The Strangers: Prey At Night” is a thing, with the same masked teens taking out a new set of strangers.
THOROUGHBREDS || Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy star alongside Anton Yelchin in one of his final roles, as a pair of socialites bent on taking out one of their stepfathers, turning to Yelchin to get the job done.
A WRINKLE IN TIME || Based on the children’s novel, “A Wrinkle In Time” sees a young girl going through different worlds to find her missing father. The ensemble cast includes Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Guru Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine, and introduces Storm Reid but seems to be mostly style over substance.
