READY PLAYER ONE || After reading Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One” in a weekend, I was in love. The nostalgia was contagious and the funny thing was I didn’t even live through most of the ’80s, but because nothing ever really goes away, a lot of the things referenced in the book, like the Delorian or “Blade Runner” are things that I ended up loving as well. The story of a dystopian future where everyone lives most of their lives in connected virtual reality named the O.A.S.I.S. is the basis of this story and who better to take the helm of a reference filled film than director Steven Spielberg, who fits a lot of his own movie references, like the T-Rex from “Jurassic Park,” in his own film. Starring Tye Sheridan in lead role with Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelson and Mark Rylance filling out the cast, this feels like a return to form for Spielberg.
