TULLY || May 4th, 2018

OVERBOARD || In 1987, Garry Marshall (“Pretty Woman”) directed Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in a romantic comedy involving memory loss and a sham marriage. Over thirty years later, here we are with another iteration, this time with Anna Faris and Mexican superstar Eugenio Derbez, with the gender roles reversed. Instead of Goldie Hawn bumping her head and getting amnesia and Russell convincing her they are married in order to get her to work off some of his debt, after an altercation, Faris becomes the swindler while Derbez plays the rich man facing his comeuppance. Director Rob Greenberg is mostly known for directing episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Scrubs.”
TULLY || Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, the director/writer team behind “Juno” and “Young Adult” have reteamed for their latest endeavor titled “Tully.” Charlize Theron is back with this duo, this time putting on fifty pounds to play the role of a stressed out mother who receives a break in the form of a nanny, played by Mackenzie Davis. Also starring is Ron Livingston and Mark Duplass. Despite some early murmurs that the marketing of the film paints a much different picture than the film itself, that has not stopped critics from enjoying it, as it earns a Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
