HONEST TRAILERS: BLACK PANTHER
Prior to “Avengers: Infinity War,” Screenjunkies joked that since they still couldn’t do the “Black Panther” Honest Trailer because it wasn’t out on DVD yet, they would do the only other Marvel Honest Trailer they hadn’t done yet, which was “The Incredible Hulk.” This week, however, sees the home video release of “Black Panther” and Screenjunkies aren’t wasting anytime. The crew behind Honest Trailers really get to show what they’re made of when the film is actually good, because they must find other things to make jokes about. This time around they are poking fun at the fact that there is so much going for this film, it feels a bit out of place when compared to the other films. Jon Bailey’s voice-over really shines when describing Michael B. Jordan’s villain with lines like, “I am not used to this much nuance in my Marvel villains” to which he retorts with “quick make him choke an old lady so I know who to root for.” He gets to do this again later when describing Lupita Nyong’o’s character saying, “wow, I am not used to this much agency in my Marvel love interests,” which a matching retort of, “quick, have her get rescued so I know who the heroes are…phew.”
Other highlights in this Honest Trailer include the suggestion that because this film was so good, people that haven’t kept up with the Marvel Universe will now need to watch 17 other films. It also points out the fact that the character of Black Panther refuses to quip. Some of the highlight cast run name include “Lupita, you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind, Lupita! *clap clap* Lupita!” and “Got Out” for the star of “Get Out” Daniel Kaluuya.
Official Synopsis: After 17 movies the MCU brings us a superhero movie we’ve never seen before, one where the hero does not constantly quip – It’s Black Panther
