BUMBLEBEE

Despite the next “Transformers” film being pushed, the standalone “Bumblebee” gets its first trailer today. This time, set in 1987, it’s not Shia LaBeouf or Mark Wahlberg’s time to discover a Transformer yet, but Hailee Steinfeld, who happens across the yellow Volkswagen Beetle known as Bumblebee. With some voice over from Bernie Mac’s cars salesman from the first “Transformers,” talking about the car picking its owner, we get small glimpses at the film, leading up to Steinfeld’s Charlie meeting Bumblebee, who cannot speak. The rest of the teaser is glimpses of the odds that Bumblebee faces, including a geared up John Cena. The trailer buttons with Charlie introducing music to Bumblebee in order to speak, like he will in the later sequels. Ultimately, what she ends up doing is Rick-rolling the audience, to which Bumblebee shoots the cassette tape across the room.

Synopsis: On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.
