LEAVING LAS VEGAS on FANDOR

Two Nicolas Cage movies land on the list this week, the first at the #10 position, titled “Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call – New Orleans,” which was directed by the Academy Award nominated director Werner Herzog, and the other at the #1 position, titled “Leaving Las Vegas,” for which Cage won his Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The latter was also nominated for Best Directing and Best Adapted Screenplay for Mike Figgis and Best Supporting Actress for Elisabeth Shue. “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus,” which was Oscar winner Heath Ledger’s final performance, featured Academy Award nominees Jude Law and Johnny Depp, the Academy Award nominated director Terry Gillam, Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer and was also nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction. Another big Oscar winning movie on the list this week is the 1987 Capone film “The Untouchables,” which won Sean Connery his only Academy Award win for Best Actor in a Supporting Role as well as grabbing nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score. Academy Award nominee John Hawkes (“Winter’s Bone”) leads a cast including Elle Fanning, Lena Heady, Peter Dinklage, and Glenn Close in the film “Low Down.” Narrowly missing a nomination itself, the film “Stronger” features the Oscar nominated Jake Gyllenhaal playing the real life survivor of the Boston marathon bombing, with David Gordon Green directing.

Before she was getting nominated for her directing, Greta Gerwig starred in the feminist comedy “Damsels In Distress” alongside Analeigh Tipton, Aubrey Plaza, and Adam Brody. Brody also stars in the comedy “CHiPs” in a supporting role to Dax Shepard and Michael Pena, who take on the icon roles of Ponch and Jon. Before they were teaming up in the Marvel’s “The Avengers,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and the “Avengers” sequels to follow, Captain America and Black Widow themselves Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson shared the screen in the comedic heist movie “The Perfect Score,” back in 2004, eight years before “The Avengers.” And lastly, in a sequel to the Daniel Radcliffe film, “The Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death” follows a group of children evacuated from WWII London dealing with the haunting presence in the Eel Marsh House.
