MORBIUS || Jared Leto has been tapped to play the Spider-Man villain Morbius in an upcoming Sony film. Morbius is a vampire that gains his abilities from science rather than from vampire lore. No news yet as to when this is set to film, as Leto has also been tapped by Warner Bros. to portray the Joker once again in a standalone film. “Morbius” is however, apparently in the same universe as the “Venom” film on tap for later this year. SATURN AWARDS || Marvel’s “Black Panther” was the big winner at the latest Saturn Awards, taking home five awards including including Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture and Best Director for Ryan Coogler. “Blade Runner 2049,” “Get Out,” and “The Shape Of Water” also took home some awards. JUMANJI || Dwayne Johnson announced a December 13th, 2019 release date for the upcoming “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle” sequel. The film will bring back the main stars of Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart and is set to open a week before Disney’s “Star Wars: Episode IX.” Read more at: Variety.



WELLINGTON PARANORMAL || Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s new television series “Wellington Paranomal” released a trailer today, showing the niche humor of the pair, best known for their collaboration on the 2014 horror mocumentary “What We Do in the Shadow.” The series will air on New Zealand’s TVNZ 2 next month. DISENCHANTMENT || Netflix released a small tease for the upcoming Matt Groening animated series titled “Disenchantment,” poking fun at the fact that “Futurama” was set in the future, “The Simpsons” in the present, and now the latest series will be in the past. The first season will consist of 10 episodes and will be available August 17th. Read more at: The Verge.

THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS || In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

Based on the beloved children’s classic written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is directed by master frightener Eli Roth and written by Eric Kripke (creator of TV’s Supernatural). Co-starring Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams and Sunny Suljic, it is produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Brad Fischer (Shutter Island) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), as well as Kripke.

Executive produced by William Sherak, Tracey Nyberg and Laeta Kalogridis, The House with a Clock in Its Walls will be released by Universal Pictures on September 21st, 2018.
