MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT || July 27th, 2018

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT || One would imagine that after 22 years and five other films, that an action movie franchise would start to face fatigue. But critics are calling “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” not just the best action movie of the summer, but one of the best films of the year and possibly the best entry yet. Tom Cruise is back to face yet another impossible mission, along with his team of Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Rebecca Ferguson. Facing them this time is Angela Bassett and Henry Cavill, beard and all. They hit locations like Paris and some snowy mountainside, with plenty of motorcycle chases and helicopter aerial shows. Similar to the way the “Fast and the Furious” franchise found its second wind, “Mission: Impossible” has seen an uptick in quality in the last three installments and this proves that it isn’t slowing down.
TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES || With critical and fan failure after failure, it seems, at least from the trailer, that “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies” is the first step in the right direction for Warner Bros. Pictures and their DC Entertainment division. Based on the Cartoon Network show, which has been going since 2013, the movie chronicles the superhero team of Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven as they try to get their own movie in a world where every other superhero, sans Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern, who makes an amazing, tongue-in-cheek joke about his failed previous film. The self-referential material feels very much like a kid’s version of “Deadpool,” which plenty of on-the-nose jokes, one of which references the villain Slade as looking like Deadpool. I wonder what Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has to say about that.
