DISNEY’S CHRISTOPHER ROBIN || August 3, 2018

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN || Continuing with their animated to live action adaptations, Disney brings you their latest take on the Winnie The Pooh lore, specifically delivering a grown up Christopher Robin being faced with the stuffed animals of his past. Ewan McGregor stars as the grown up Christopher while Jim Cummings reprises his voice over role of Winnie himself, a voice he’s done since the nineties. Also starring is Hayley Atwell as Christopher’s wife. Many people are drawing the parallel to Steven Spielberg’s “Hook,” which featured a grown up Peter Pan going back to Neverland to face Hook, but this looks to be much more focused on the emotional elements rather than the adventure aspect that was prevalent in “Hook.”
THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME || Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon star in the adventure comedy, “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” which plays on the title of an old James Bond film. The premise sees Kunis dumped by a guy that she apparently knows very little about (played by Justin Theroux) who turns out to be a secret agent. Kunis then gets caught in the crosshairs of the people after him and is forced to deal with situations way out of her realm. Although the critics are being that nice, Kunis is perfectly capable in carrying bigger roles in her films, i.e. “Bad Moms” and McKinnon oftens presents as the best parts of the films that she stars in, i.e.  the “Ghostbusters” reboot. Gillian Anderson also stars.
