BURT REYNOLDS
February 11, 1936 – September 6, 2018 (age 82)
Cause of Death: Cardiac Arrest
Best known for his roles in “Smokey and the Bandit” and “The Cannonball Run,” Burt Reynolds started as a huge ’70s star, appearing in both films and television, playing big roles in series like “Gunsmoke” and “Out Of This World,” and would use the latter half of his career to ride that wave of nostalgia, playing himself or versions of his old characters. He would star in the original “The Longest Yard” in 1974 and would later have a big role in the remake featuring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in 2005. His other mentional roles would include classics like “Deliverance” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” as well as more recent classics like “Striptease” and “Boogie Nights.” I also vividedly remember him playing Boss Hogg in the feature film remake of “The Dukes Of Hazard” starring Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. Although not his last film, the last film that made an impact was 2017’s “The Last Movie Star” in which he starred as an aging actor accepting an award at a tiny film festival, alongside “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter. The man had starred next to some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Although he will truly be missed, his legacy will live on forever.
