The Washington DC Area Film Critics Association award their Best Film and Best Director to “Roma” and Alfonso Cuarón. In the same sweep, “Roma” also takes Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. This echoes the New York Film Critics Circle Awards from last week. Bradley Cooper gets his first Best Actor win for “A Star Is Born” while Lady Gaga adds another one for Best Actress. Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali grabs his first Best Supporting Actor award for “Green Book” while Regina King now collects her fourth Best Supporting Actress win for her role in “If Beale Street Could Talk. “The Favourite” takes Best Original Screenplay while Best Adapted Screenplay goes to “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” Two more awards go to “Isle Of Dogs” and “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” while “Black Panther” gets on the board for Best Production Design. Also switching it up, “First Man” and Tom Cross grab an award for Best Editing, proving “First Man” could be much more prevalent in the technical awards this year, rather than any of the major awards like Best Picture or Best Actor.
