After three weeks at #1, “Avengers: Endgame” was finally taken down by “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” which ended up debuting well above its expectations, earning $56.8 million on a projection of $38.5 million. It also earned an average of $14,758 in 3,850 theaters, earning it the POPCORN AWARD as well. It’s no surprise that the fourth film in the series has already announced a 2021 release date. “Avengers: Endgame” continues its climb towards the All-Time Worldwide Box Office champ, adding $29.9 million to its total domestic cume, and zeroing closer to the “Avatar” record. “A Dog’s Journey” opened at #4 with $8 million, much lower than its $13 million projection, losing to “Pokemon: Detective Pickachu” in its second weekend but beating “The Hustle.” Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Sun Is Also A Star” opened to $2.5 million, which is way lower than its $8.5 million projection. And the Bollywood film “De De Pyaar De” debuted at #16 with a little less than half a million dollars. Only two films moved up on the List this week, including “The White Crow,” which moved up a spot to #20, and “The Biggest Little Farm,” which jumped up six spots and +150.2%, earning it the GOLDEN PERCENTAGE AWARD in its second weekend.

The rest of the List shifted down this week, including four films that fell five or more spots. “Tolkien,” in its second weekend, dropped five spots, “Amazing Grace” and “Pet Sematary” both fell five spots, and “Us” fell seven spots in its ninth weekend. Falling off the List completely this weekend was, as predicted, Disneynature’s “Penguins” and “Shadow,” which were both low on the List last weekend. Also falling off was “Student of the Year 2” in its second weekend and “El Chicano” in its third.

Walt Disney and Guy Ritchie’s “Aladdin” should make short work of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” next weekend, with a debut projection of $68.5 million, with some saying as high as $80 million. The superhero horror film “Brightburn” aims to make at least $9 million, enough to make it into the Top Five. “Booksmart” is also seeking a $7 million debut, enough to land it in the Top Ten. Hitting home video this week, “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” will likely fall off the List. With its peetering performance the past few weeks, “Us” may also finally fall off the List. And either “Red Joan” or “Pet Sematary” could be facing the chopping block next week as well.
