“Bounty hunting is a complicated business. Don’t you agree?”— The Client (Werner Herzog)
The Disney+ app here!
Fans have been salivating for months over the mere idea of the Star Wars original series “The Mandalorian,” with Pedro Pascal dawning the Boba Fett-like armor. With all the anticipation leading up to the launch of the app and its brand new content, I have to say I am completely satisfied with the result.
“Chapter One” provides just a taste, but it is the perfect taste. You get to know the character, an elite gunslinger who wields blasters and electric prods instead of sandalwood grips. You get reacquainted with the world as the characters trot around a wild west set “in a galaxy far far away.” Not to mention, you get shoot outs, carbonite, new creatures, and cameos, including Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, and a scene-stealing Werner Herzog. Even Taika Waititi’s modulated voice-over for the droid IG-11 ends up being a highlight, not to mention the first episode’s slight twist ending.
Needless to say, after just one taste, I’m all in on the first season of “The Mandalorian.”
