The Best Makeup & Hairsyling category has been narrowed down to ten contenders. I think the front-runners here have to be the films that use a lot of makeup, which would be “Joker” as well as “Bombshell” and “Rocketman” who turn actors in their real life counterparts. I have a feeling “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” will have a strong presence at this year’s Oscars and since it’s a period piece, getting the makeup and hairstyling of that era could give it a leg up.
“All members of the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will be invited to view seven-minute excerpts from each of the 10 shortlisted films on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Members will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration.”
The actual nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards will be announced on Monday, January 13, 2020.
