“I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.”
— Big Tom Callahan (Brian Dennehy) in “Tommy Boy”
Most of Irrfan Khan’s career was spent in India, but it’s his American work that caught my attention. The first thing I remember seeing him in was also my favorite of his performances, as the police inspector in the Oscar-nominated Danny Boyle film “Slumdog Millionaire.” He would eventually land roles like the adult version of Pi in Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning film “Life Of Pi.” Plus, one cannot forget his memorable roles in genre films like “Jurassic World” and “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Despite me only knowing his role in America cinema, the man had a long, illustrious career. He leaves behind two children and his film producer wife, Sutapa Sikdar.
