Even the critics North of our borders loved “Nomadland,” as the Vancouver Film Critics Circle awarded it with Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. “Minari” was shown some love as well, winning Best Foreign Language Film and Best Supporting Actress. Daniel Kaluuya continued his surge for Best Supporting Actor front-runner, and Aaron Sorkin beat out Jack Fincher and Emerald Fennell for Best Screenplay and his writing of “The Trial of the Chicago 7.”

The Vancouver Film Critics Circle was founded in 2000 by David Spaner and Ian Caddell in order to help promote Canadian films and the British Columbia film and television industry. Its membership currently includes professional (paid) critics for print, radio, on-line and television who are either based in Vancouver or with Vancouver outlets.
