With Oscar nominations a week away, “Nomadland,” “Minari,” and inclusion were the big winners out of the Detroit Film Critics Society awards. Chloé Zhao won Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for her work on “Nomadland,” while the film itself won Best Picture and Frances McDormand won for Best Actress. “Minari” won Best Ensemble, Best Adapted Screenplay for Lee Isaac Chung, and Best Supporting Actress for Yuh-jung Youn. Inclusion won as Delroy Lindo and Daniel Kaluuya both won for their amazing performances in “Da 5 Bloods” and “Judas and the Black Messiah” respectively. Even “Soul” won for Best Animated Feature.

The Detroit Film Critics Society (DFCS) was formed in 2007, and today consists of 19 film critics who write or broadcast in the Detroit area or within a 150-mile radius of the city.
