If you were wondering which films might be nominees in the Oscar’s Best Film Editing category, the American Cinema Editors have announced their nominations for the 71st Eddie Awards. Best Picture front-runners “Mank,” “Nomadland,” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” landed as expected, while “Minari” and “Sound Of Metal,” who are leaning toward getting a Best Picture nomination as well, show up here as well. These five (dramatic) films could easily be your five nominees in the Best Film Editing category at the Oscars. If any film in the comedy category were to make it, I would lean toward “Promising Young Woman,” but how that film is considered a comedy is another question in and of itself.
