With a few more critics awards trickling in, the Phoenix Critics Circle has named “Minari,” which is an Oscar Best Picture nominee, as their Best Picture winner. The film also won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Supporting Actress. Chloé Zhao, however, was able to keep her streak alive by winning the Best Director award for her work on “Nomadland.” Carey Mulligan won Best Actress for her role in “Promising Young Woman,” something I hope can be repeated at the Oscars. Daniel Kaluuya won Best Supporting Actor for his much-talked-about role in “Judas and the Black Messiah,” something I’m predicting will happen at the Oscars.
