The 69th Golden Reel nominees have been announced by the Motion Picture Sound Editors. Films that seem like they have a chance to get Oscar nominations include “Dune,” “A Quiet Place Part II,” and “West Side Story.” If we’re talking musicals then it seems like “tick, tick… Boom!” probably has a better shot than say “In The Heights,” just due to popularity and other Academy considerations. “Nightmare Alley” should not be overlooked either. Not in the main category, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is still a strong contender, as is “The Power of the Dog” and “No Time to Die.” I’m also crossing my fingers for some love toward “Last Night in Soho.” Note that once again “Sing 2” is taking that fifth spot in the Animation category after “Encanto,” “Luca,” “The Mitchells vs the Machines,” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
