Ashley Park and Haley Lu Richardson announced the nominees for the 29th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for film and television this morning. Many of the same names we just saw for the Golden Globes were present, like winners Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, and Austin Butler, who are all locks for the Oscar nominations. We also got names that didn’t appear at the Globes, like Danielle Deadwyler and Adam Sandler. Some performances were left out, like Michelle Williams for her role in “The Fabelmans,” despite the film getting an Ensemble nomination, and Margot Robbie for her role in “Babylon,” which failed to get any individual nominations. “Women Talking” was another Ensemble nominee who failed to produce any actors or actresses in the separate categories. “Everything Everywhere All At Once” came out with five nominations, as did “The Banshees of Inisherin,” which are both favorites this awards season.
On the television side, the stalwarts were present, including “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Crown,” “Ozark,” and “The White Lotus.” Newcomers “The Bear” and “Severance” also had a few nominations. One notable absence was HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” which got in for Best Stunt Ensemble and nothing else. “Pam & Tommy,” “The Flight Attendant,” and “Atlanta” were also omissions when it came to getting any attention.
The ceremony will occur via Netflix’s YouTube channel (YouTube.com/Netflix) on Sunday, February 26, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT from the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Next year (2024), the ceremony will air globally on Netflix.
