Hosted by Chelsea Handler, the 28th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards were handed out Sunday night, with “Everything Everywhere All At Once” remaining the highlighted film. Given Best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay, the film won five awards throughout the night. Missing from the winners was Michelle Yeoh, who saw Cate Blanchett win Best Actress for her performance in “TÁR.” In her acceptance speech, Blanchett suggested removing the entire institution of the awards show and honoring the handful of award-worthy performances from all the women. The rest of the night felt similar to the Golden Globes. It felt like an honoring of legacies, like Brendan Fraser winning for his performance in “The Whale” and Angela Bassett winning again for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The only film nominated for Best Picture that went home empty-handed was “The Banshees of Inisherin.”
