RELEASES ON MY RADAR
I haven’t invested in any of the Star Trek 4K releases yet, for fear that the Steelbook releases could be just around the corner. In another year goes by and they don’t come out, I may have to finally give in. The Warner Bros. Box Sets are gorgeous and I’d to have them, but I’m hoping for a price drop since I own most of the films. With Cool Hand Luke and The Maltese Falcon, I toyed with double-dipping, because the slipcovers on the standard 4K releases are stunning. Confess Fletch is on my radar to watch. One Piece Film: Red and The Sword and the Sorcerer are both international Steelbook releases.

I saw a lot of collectors double-dipping with House of 1000 Corpses, buying the Steelbook (which I did) along with the box set. If it was 4K, I think I would have, but since it’s only Blu-Ray, I’ll pass for now. I already own the Blu-Ray Criterion of “The Fisher King” so I’ll wait to upgrade.

Again, I love the Warner Bros 100 anniversary slipcovers almost as much as I love the Steelbooks, but I’ll hold off on double-dipping. I’ll be waiting on price decreases for All-Star Superman, Cocaine Bear, and Magic Mike’s Last Dance. I also already own The Seventh Seal on Blu-Ray, so I’ll be waiting to upgrade to the 4K Criterion. And, these international releases of Audition, Dark Water, and Ring are amazing.
