Daytime Revolution
Directed by: Erik Nelson
Studio: Kino Lorber | Shout! Studios
For one extraordinary week beginning on February 14th, 1972, the Revolution WAS televised. Daytime Revolution takes us back in time to the week that John Lennon and Yoko Ono descended upon a Philadelphia broadcasting studio to co-host the iconic Mike Douglas Show, at the time the most popular show on daytime television with an audience of 40 million viewers a week. What followed was five unforgettable episodes of television, with Lennon and Ono at the helm and Douglas bravely keeping the show on track. Acting as both producers and hosts, Lennon and Ono handpicked their guests, including controversial choices like Yippie founder Jerry Rubin and Black Panther Chairman Bobby Seale, as well as political activist Ralph Nader and comic truth teller George Carlin. Their version of daytime TV was a radical take on the traditional format, incorporating candid Q&A sessions with their transfixed audience, conversations about current issues like police violence and women’s liberation, conceptual art events, and one-of-a-kind musical performances, including a unique duet with Lennon and Chuck Berry and a poignant rendition of Lennon’s “Imagine”. A document of the past that speaks to our turbulent present, Daytime Revolution captures the power that art can have when it reaches out to communicate, the prescience of that dialogue, and the bravery of two artists who never took the easy way out as they fought for their vision of a better world.

Six Days In August
Directed by: Mark Goodman
Studio: Susan Tuckett Media
The Prophet Joseph Smith is dead, killed by a mob. Enemies of the young LDS Church think it will die with Joseph. In fact that danger is a real possibility. The crisis is undeniable, and the saints in Nauvoo are in chaos. Following in the successful wake of the feature film Witnesses (2021), The Interpreter Foundation announces “Six Days in August”. That title refers to the extraordinarily important period in August 1844 when Sidney Rigdon and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by Brigham Young, stated their respective claims for leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith. The Saints had never before experienced the death of a president of the Church; this was uncharted territory. The film introduces a young, much lesser-known Brigham Young with gifts, fortitude and skill-sets as well as a history of hard work, sacrifice and service that uniquely prepared him to lead at that exact time.

Heart Of A Servant:
The Father Flanagan Story
Directed by: Daniel Gebert & Rob Kaczmark
Studio: Fathom Events
Father Edward J. Flanagan is a familiar name to many Americans, often for the Oscar-winning 1938 film starring Spencer Tracy about Flanagan’s groundbreaking child welfare organization. But the story extends far beyond that, to a man whose name and legacy are still well-known as far as Germany and Japan. Flanagan gained influence and admiration over the course of his life from Presidents, CEOs, celebrities and more, but none mattered more to him than that of the children for whom he tirelessly worked. A sobering reminder of this was during WWII, as Flanagan saw droves of former Boys Town citizens go off to war. In fact, so many former Boys Town boys named Father Flanagan as their next of kin that the American War Dads Association named him as America’s No. 1 War Dad. Father Flanagan was a hero for his times, and for ours, too: his approach to child welfare remains a top influence in the field, and his frequent outspokenness against injustice showed he was always willing to tell the truth, regardless of risk.
