WHY I CHOSE THOSE FIVE?
In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes… and Diane Warren receiving every possible Oscar nomination. Lock in “The Journey” from “The Six Triple Eight” and understand that Best Original Song will be the only nomination the film receives, solely because Diane Warren is an Academy favorite. Musician H.E.R. is already an Oscar winner, so it helps that she’s a part of the song as well. “Kiss The Sky” from “The Wild Robot” feels like the next song that gets nominated. Not only was the film well-received, but the song is one of the best parts of the film. Both songs from “Emilia Pérez” could also get nominated. Lastly, my gut says “Compress/Repress” from “Challengers” will make the final cut. The experts at Gold Derby have “Like A Bird” from “Sing Sing” as their final pick. As my preference picks, after listening to all the songs, I would be happy with “Out Of Oklahoma” from “Twisters” or “Tell Me It’s You” from “Mufasa: The Lion King” getting nominations. And, just because I’d want to see it performed at the ceremony, I’d love to see Kristen Wiig’s “Harper And Will Go West” from “Will & Harper” get a nomination, especially if it misses out on the Documentary Feature category.
